how to use this tracker
What do I actually need to do?
Download the blank applications_tracker.xlsx template. Fill it in as you apply to jobs. When you want to see your dashboard, come back here and upload the file. No account, no server, nothing stored anywhere but your own computer.
What are the three sheets for?
π All Applications
Your master log. Every job applied to β company, role, date, status, source, notes. One row per application.
π Detailed Applications
The full picture β cover letter used, tailored resume, salary range, recruiter contact, follow-up dates. Use for roles you're actively pursuing.
β¦ Active Pipeline
Only roles still alive (phone screen, interview, offer). Tracks stage, interviewer notes, next steps, and decision deadlines.
What status values should I use?
Use these exactly (case matters for the colour badges):
Applications are grouped by status β active ones (Offer, Interview, Phone Screen) float to the top, dead ends (Rejected, No Response) sink to the bottom. Within each group, the most recently applied shows first.
Can I add more columns?
Yes β the dashboard reads whatever columns exist in your sheet and displays them automatically. Just don't rename the core columns: Status, Stage, Company, Role, or Date Applied, as those power the sorting and stats.
